1. Ben King 176k

One thing is certain. Ben King will be a must have in your team. The question is, when. Should you select him from the start? OR should you wait until he’s had 2 games back and use him as a trade. Recovering from an ACL, King is price well below his worth, at 176K. This means he represents one of the biggest bargains in 2023. It’s all about when he is ready to play - so in making the decision, let’s defer to the GC injury list. If he’s off that, then he’s in our SC team. Easy.

2. Connor Blakely 123k

Ex freo - shown plenty of Supercoach ability in the past. Huge risk pick. Big bragging rights if it pulls off. Only 123k for a semi proven point scorer. Will be worth a look as a bench spot early days. Will be a popular selection based on price, and the fact that some Supercoachers will have long memories, way back to a time when he may have even been bordering Premo status for a month or so.

3. Sam Flanders 256k

Former top 5 draft who has chins wagging in the Gold Coast preseason. Seems the penny may have dropped, and a big improvement is on the cards in 2023. At 256K Mid/Fwd, he’s on the cusp of big supercoach backing in 2023 based on preseason hype. It may turn out to be just that - hype. The upside is too good to ignore though, and he looms as a player you simply MUST keep an eye on in the preseason. To be continued.

4. Darcy Wilmott 123k

Should be a LOCK for your team. Will be a VERY popular selection in 2023 for three reasons. One, he showed great promise in the Finals series despite being a debutant, and polled some great scores. Two, those Finals scores will NOT affect his starting price in 2023, meaning he will be a bargain basement cash cow. And three - he’s damn likeable!

5. Darcy Cameron 465k

Somewhat a surprise in 2022 as Grundy was grounded yet again. Coach MaCrae obviously loves Cameron and in turn got rewarded with some better than expected performances. And this boded well for his Supercoach scoring too, with many coaches getting on board early before the price rise. In 2023, he is set to be the premier ruck from the get go. He is priced mid 400ks and has the added bonus of being a DPP. With premium rucks being a hard sell this year due to a variety of reasons, it again seems surprising that Cameron actually stands as a really good choice. Definitely consider.

6. Angus Brayshaw 550k

Back to Defender status in Supercoach means back to consideration. And deep consideration at that. Should be one of the most picked premium defenders by the seasons end. Save yourself the trouble and just start him from the get go. Tick.

7. Jai Newcombe 478k

With Tom Mitchell and Jaeger O’Meara leaving the Hawks, there are in excess of 200pt+ up for grabs weekly in the midfield. Expect Newcombe to be a big beneficiary of this player movements. He’s already been given the keys to the midfield without fear of being dropped, which shows he is a major part of the Sam Mitchell plan for the Hawks future. Has proven he can get into a supercoach mood with some outstanding first quarter / first half scores - only to run out of puff in the 2nd half. This is part and parcel of being a young player. Expect him to have another level of fitness this season and with those absences in the hawks mids, he looks irresistible as a midfield starting selection.

8. Nat Fyfe 313k

What? Nate Fyfe is what price?? 313k? For Fyfe? For over a decade, this would be a no brainer. Fyfe has been a Supercoach Immortal / perma Captain for most of his career. Now he finds himself near the end, and his Supercoach starting price reflect this. As with almost every season of his career, his body is the main question. If Fyfe rotates between the midfield and up fwd, then he seems a lock for a forward position in your team. Or are his SC days over? Hard to know. But Fyfe will certainly be a popular selection based on reputation, position and price.

9. Will Ashcroft 202k

The father son gift for Brisbane. Clearly the best player in the 2022 National Draft, and Brisbane have him signed, sealed and delivered. An explosive midfielder that bursts away from the contested packs. Plays hard and has an attacking mindset when disposing the ball. Was averaging 35+ touches in the juniors. so a complete ball magnet as well. Such a huge win for Brisbane. Priced as a premium rookie, will be one of the most selected players this year. Run all day onballer. Will be tough cracking into the Brissie midfield though.

10. George Wardlaw

Wardlaw is head down, bum up type of player. Loves the contested stuff, fighting for the pill in the pack scrape. And, what helps, is he’s elite at it. Winning the ball seems to be his primary focus. And this is great for his supercoach prospects. Add to this the fact that he’s already quick strong bodied in the muscle department, and I think it’s fair to say we have a round one midfield starter for 2023. Must be considered. The only query on him is his unlucky injury record. Great skills, runs both ways. Tackles.

11. Cam McKenzie

One of the ones to watch in 2023. Could arguably be a first pick based on his all round talents. Great ball user, provides damaging disposal into the forward 50, which we know Champion Data love. Tackles hard and seems to be a step ahead of everyone on the field. Many have likened him to Callum Mills which is apt - but we see a stark resemblance to Sam Mitchell. Could be a 300 gamer and future leader. Likely to get some opportunity early. Keep on the radar.

12. Nick Daicos

Everyone already feels like they know him already. The claims have been circling for years that he’s twice as good as his brother. And his junior stats would support that. However is he ready for Supercoach premo selection this year? That’s the big question. We think: Yes. 502k.
